I’ve worked for agencies in 16 languages and had broadcast work shown in 12 countries, as well as projects from film festivals to Fortune 500.

I have post production on 6 features, over 300 TV episodes, 1K commercials under my belt, as well as dozens of comedic and dramatic shorts and extended experience in digital advertising and retail promotions.

I enjoy exploring new tools like sculpting in virtual reality and capturing reality with photogrammetry.

Motion Design and Animation

Whether it's a corporate video needing a motion design explainer or full 3D broadcast animated sequences, Motion Design is always fun and challenging.  I work hard to see trends and find new tools to push myself and offer original concepts that compliment editorial.

From Concept to Completion

From high concept to high-end shots, I enjoy pushing machines and tools to their limits and I try to build on new challenges. I use the Adobe Suite for Design, Editing and VFX, Cinema 4D for animation, Unreal Engine for look dev and cinematics, and a large array of other apps like Clarrise, WorldBuilder, Embergen, Character Creator and iClone to round out my toolset.  I have decades of studio level 3D and VFX assets and collections to divine inspiration from, and I don't like barriers to creativity.

I recently started exploring photogrammetry and use the Metascan.ai app on an iPhone 13 Pro max to capture real-life objects and use them in scenes in Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine and Clarisse.

Its extremely powerful to see a real life object or scene and walk around it for 3 min taking pictures and end up with a 3D object with millions of polys worth buying on market sites and that can be exported in working formats and in amazing detail. I can work in a PBR workspace and render in ACES with real objects.

an elephant I sculpted from a sphere in Shapelabs VR

I have been using a VR headset for over 2 years, first for VR games then Virtual Desktop PCVR games them using VR as a design tool, building, modifying, and sculpting in 3D.  I use Gravity Sketch for modelling and Shapelabs VR for sculpting.  Feeling 3D and experiencing art creation in immersive VR is amazing.

Thinking in 3D

I've been a 3D artist for 25 years and I'm amazed at the speed and abilities we have now to create scenes.  Here is a sample of an Unreal Engine course I made (30min) that goes over some of the basic though processes of working in 3D.

VFX Thinking

There are some basic thought processes when building VFX shots, techniques that everyone should know.  This is part of a 30min course on building VFX shots in three different difficulty levels from using a still image to full tracking and adding 2D/3D VFX elements.

Creative Direction

Growing into a professional creative takes a long time and needs collection of skills and influences gathered over years and across as many fields as possible.  It takes years of paying attention to trends in motion design and techniques in editing and storytelling to see what is the current landscape and where things could be headed.  Having my imagination as my most important tool and my strong work ethic and positive attitude is key to be open to seeing new possibilities and helps me stay confident in learning new tools.

Creative Progression

I grew up in radio broadcasting and always wanted to be an animator and graphic designer.  These are two samples of very early work from my SD and agency days.

This was my first broadcast commercial made in 1995, I made all the 3D animation using Alias PowerAnimator on an SGI workstation, and that is me speaking at the end of the spot.

This is an example of my agency work (2000-2005), I conceived this commercial and did all the animation in Cinema 4D. It became very popular with the brand.

Let's be creative!
